Discover Cake It By Dada

Nestled in the heart of Edmond, Oklahoma, Cake It By Dada at 615 S Broadway has become a sweet little sanctuary for dessert lovers who crave more than just a sugar rush. This cozy spot instantly greets you with the aroma of freshly baked cakes and a warm, homey charm that feels like stepping into a friend’s kitchen. Locals know it as the go-to place when they want something indulgent but crafted with care—each treat here feels like it was baked with genuine love.

The first thing that draws people in is the creative menu. It’s not just a display of cakes, cupcakes, and pastries—it’s a lineup of edible art. You’ll find flavors that balance nostalgia and novelty, like classic red velvet cupcakes beside more adventurous options such as pistachio cream cake or mango passionfruit tarts. For anyone who’s ever felt overwhelmed by overly sweet desserts, Dada’s creations strike a perfect balance—rich but never cloying. A slice of their signature chocolate fudge cake paired with a cup of locally roasted coffee is one of those simple pleasures that can make an ordinary afternoon feel special.

What makes this place truly shine is the experience behind every bite. The owner, Dada, started baking in her home kitchen over a decade ago. Her process hasn’t changed much since then—she still insists on hand-whipping frostings and sourcing fresh, local ingredients whenever possible. This commitment shows up in the textures and flavors that define the shop’s identity. According to a 2024 Oklahoma City food trend report, more than 60% of local diners prefer handmade desserts over mass-produced ones, and Cake It By Dada is living proof of why that matters. Each cake layer tells a story of patience and craftsmanship, qualities that large bakeries often overlook.

Beyond the sweets, the vibe of the place makes it perfect for both solo visits and small gatherings. It’s common to see college students typing away on laptops while sipping lattes, or couples sharing a slice after dinner downtown. The pastel interiors and gentle background music set an inviting tone that encourages you to linger. Reviews often highlight not only the quality of the food but also the staff’s friendliness—regulars mention being remembered by name or having their favorite flavors saved for pickup. In an age where many restaurants chase trends, this diner manages to stand out simply by making people feel at home.

Expert bakers and food reviewers alike have praised Dada’s mastery of balance. Her buttercream frosting, for example, is known for its light texture, a result of using European-style butter and controlled whipping time to achieve that silky finish. Pastry chef and culinary instructor Amy Riordan from the Oklahoma Culinary Institute once commented that bakeries like Dada’s “restore the personal connection between creator and customer,” something that resonates deeply in small-town communities. It’s this combination of artistry and authenticity that turns first-time visitors into loyal fans.

Even with its growing popularity, the shop maintains transparent and trustworthy service. Prices are clearly listed, custom orders are handled with meticulous attention, and customers are encouraged to share feedback directly. Online reviews across platforms like Yelp and Google average over 4.8 stars, with particular praise for consistency and presentation. While the store doesn’t claim to reinvent baking, it elevates the everyday cake experience into something memorable. The only real drawback? The shop tends to sell out early on weekends, so planning ahead or pre-ordering is wise.

Whether you’re celebrating a milestone or just craving a midweek treat, Cake It By Dada delivers both comfort and creativity. Its blend of tradition, expertise, and genuine hospitality embodies what a neighborhood bakery should be—a place where good food and good memories rise together, one slice at a time.

  • My husband and I found this bakery on Google and tried it for the first time tonight. It was amazing! He got the Japanese cheesecake and I got the Lavender Blueberry Lemon cake. Both were light and not too heavy or sweet. Mine even had fresh blueberries in it! We spoke to one of the owners, Katie, and discussed our love of desserts as well the love and care she and her partners put into everything they make. She let us try their new Dubai chocolate cookie with pistachios which was a delicious explosion of flavor in your mouth. The mango coconut pandan was all natural with no green food coloring and was very light and fluffy. I loved that it wasn't too rich or heavy like a lot of American desserts. If you want to support a local small business/bakery then go here!! Highly recommend this bakery, their kindness and customer service let alone the delicious baked goods!

  • Absolutely loved! Their cakes look amazing. I came in at around 9pm a few days back because I’m a Dubai chocolate girly and I’ve had bad experiences everywhere else. They were super nice and welcoming. I got the bar and the large strawberry cup. Everything was delicious (the cup is better the second day) in my opinion and the bar was small but I enjoyed every little piece. I will be back!

  • Best Dubai chocolate strawberries and chocolate bar I’ve ever had! The lady working was amazing along with everything we tried. Will definitely drive another 1.5 hours to eat there again. Amazing

  • This place was an absolute die for! The staff was so sweet, especially the lady at the counter (she was the owner i believe). The atmosphere was cozy and comforting, despite coming in so late. As for the boba, i had ordered the cononut milk tea with passion fruit popping boba and the drink was so refreshing. The popping boba didnt leave any film behind, and the coconut blend was perfect and had coconut shavings which I loved! (If you dont like conconut, they had much more of assortment to choose from!) My dad got to try the Taro cream milk tea with his strawberry popping boba (which is his usual from any place) and he loved it! Aside from drinks, the pastries were soooo good too! I had a fruit sando (Milk cake, with cream filling and fruit) which was so fresh and the ingredients were fresh and made in house! As for their créme brulee, and dubai chocolate strawberry mix, both were delicious too. (My parents got those.) We also got to try the popular Lemon lavender cake and it was a highlight of the cakes. It was light, and had the perfect balance of lemon, lavander, and cake. I will definitely be coming back, because this place was amazing and good! Definitely give this place a look!!

  • This was my first visit in, and we wanted to try an assortment of menu items so that I could review as much as I could in one take. For starters: we loved everything we had, simply put i highly recommend this place, but there is a caveat. The owner, who also runs the store, bakery, is having some pretty serious health issues, and while this is her dream business, she isn't always able to have regular business hours. We spoke to her at length, and the situation is quite unfortunate as we were absolutely blown away by the baked goods and boba drinks! I know that in today's market, having a business with unsteady hours can be difficult, but i would implore people to do anything they can to try to cake it by DaDa! Onto the reviewed items: For starters, we got two Boba drinks. We got a taro cream tea with strawberry bursters and a mango with real mango fruit. Both teas were amazing. They don't have that powdery texture some other places have, and the busters didn't leave a film in your mouth. The mangos were soft and delicious! This is our favorite boba teas in all of edmond! Next week, I had the strawberry Dubai cup, and my wife devoured the entire cup! While I felt the price was a little high, my wife argued that it was worth every penny. Strawberries were fresh, and she couldn't stop. We also got a creme Brule with caramelized topper, which was a delicious dessert that hit the spot for me. While most occasions I prefer the warm top, I didn't mind the premaid setup for ease to go. We also had two cake desserts. The first was their most popular lavender blueberry cake, and it was so delicious. We shared between the three of us, and the continuous mmmms and ahhhhs with every bite got me understanding why so many enjoy this one. The second was an angel food style, strawberry, and kiwi, which was very soft, moist, and delicious. We noticed both frosting while sweet were very mild. They both were light and fluffy, allowing the customer to eat comfortably. Cake it by DaDa also does special occasion cake designs. I included some photos of cakes they had actually made and was quite impressed with the artistry. They can do everything from custom wedding cakes, celebrations, breakable cakes, tier cakes, and elaborate custom works. Entry prices are very affordable, starting at around 25.00 and up depending on complexity, size, etc. of the cake. Overall I would highly recommend giving Cake it by DaDa a chance to earn your business and treat yourself to a Boba tea and dessert!

  • This place gets four stars for the expensive price tag on all of the treats, but it is well worth the experience. I came in after the place had just opened and I was taken over by pure delight from the hand made treats. I will be back! Dubai chocolate was good and the strawberry cheesecake was so light and airy it made my entire night!
